Project details:

The Kegging Plant at Beamish & Crawford is in the heart of Cork’s medieval city, close to the South Gate bridge. The Kegging Plant is located to the rear of the site facing onto Crosse’s Green & the southern estuary of the river Lee. Due to the strict temperature requirements relating to the brewing/kegging process & to avoid overheating the project brief for the building elevation was to create a modern but harmonized façade to suit the setting & to allow a filtered light to spread into the extended Kegging plant. This was achieved using a light weight steel structure with a tongued & grooved interlocking, multiwalled, vertically laid polycarbonate sheets, opal in finish. The façade was also interspersed with anodized aluminum framed thermally broken double glazed windows.
