Our main focus for the design was to create a workplace that balances the formal and informal work environment. Entry from the neutral elevator core leads to Downtown(DNTN) which is the hub, the central space where all neighbourhoods meet. DNTN features a dramatic canoe seat, a stepped open grid gathering area and a break out area with an elegant zig zag table. DNTN has a monotone atmosphere, highlighted with textural planting and colourful graphics. This neutral/natural palette is intentionally preparing you for the transition to spaces of bold colour and distinct atmospheres.
With Varonis being an international company we wanted to add a local flavour to the design. Neighbourhoods were created inspired by Cork places. Each neighbourhood has its own name, character and colour scheme. Cobh (CHB)with its orange accent colours, took its design thread from shipbuilding with the use of ropes in screens, brick walls and timber partitions. For Kinsale (KSL) known for its scenic harbour and marina, we used a soft industrial background with highlights and features of sea blue most notably the blue painted brick walls. Fermoy (FMY) is the home of many Ring-forts and it is an Iron Age site. Circles abstractly represent ring forts using cut logs, a curved metal screen and organic graphic artwork. The Iron Age theme is reinforced with the use of raw metalwork screens and desks structures. The final area, the canteen and game zone is Macroom (MCRM). Known for its druids we developed a whimsical, colourful theme with multicoloured chairs, mystical log tables, and a patchwork sofa.
