Munster Rugby - Center of Excellence
We at Wilson Architecture are proud to have played a key role in the recent milestone for Munster Rugby, as they officially opened their new Centre of Excellence in Cork on Saturday 4th October. What started as a standalone gym concept evolved into a comprehensive, state-of-the-art facility that was delivered on time and within budget.
Our team, in collaboration with project leaders including Niall FitzGerald from Horgan Lynch Consulting Engineers, and alongside our valued partners EDC – Engineering Design Consultants, Quantity Surveyor Tony O’Regan, and others helped bring this transformative project to life. The finished product boasts an indoor training pitch, modern gym, dressing rooms, treatment rooms, & offices for staff, as well as much-needed external toilets for supporters attending matches.
Thanks to Cumnor Construction Ltd, whose partnership spirit and outstanding support made the construction process seamless.
We extend our gratitude to everyone involved, especially to Munster Rugby’s dedicated staff whose hard work and vision helped shape Virgin Media Park into a vibrant, multi-sport, and event facility. It is now a vital part of Munster Rugby’s infrastructure and long-term strategy.
This project was made possible through significant support from the Irish government and the IRFU, with notable presence from An Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Minister Charlie McConalogue during the opening.
We are delighted with what has been achieved and invite you to view the video below to see the new Munster Rugby Center of Excellence in Cork.
